Marathon Bucket List

Now that I no longer compete (compete is used loosely) in wrestling, I’ve started to get into running… So far I’ve run two marathons, both being the Kentucky Derby Marathon, and I have one in February down in Miami.

After finding out about the Miami Marathon, I did some research and I found a few that I would love to run in at some point… In no particular order (I only included marathons I could get into without a lottery or PR)

Niagra Falls International Marathon

You get to run next to the water, enjoy the beautiful sites, and cross into Canada – what more can you want in a race.

Detroit Free Press Marathon

Just like the Niagra Falls Marathon, how cool is it that you are running into another country during a portion of your race!

St. George Marathon

One of the easier marathons, this race descends 2600 feet so it looks to be a good one to hit a PR.

Hoover Dam Marathon

This marathon takes you around Lake Mead, thru Mojave Desert, into old railroad tunnels, and onto the Hoover Dam – talk about a ton of variety during a race.

BMW Berlin Marathon

Am I biased as a BMW owner that I would like to run in the BMW Marathon? Possibly, but still….

Run Rome The Marathon

“The course will carry on through Foro Italico, the Mosque of Rome, you will be running on the same steets trampled a few millennia ago by the ancient Romans. On the route, you won’t miss Piazza Navona, Via del Corso, Piazza del Popolo and Piazza di Spagna, with the famous stairway of Trinità dei Monti. The main character of the marathon will be the Colosseum, majestic background, start and finish points of the race.”

Athens Authentic Marathon

According to the website, “it covers the same ground that the Athenian messenger Phiedippides ran when he brought news of victory from the battlefield of Marathon 2,500 years ago”
